2009 Recap

2009 Recap
1. I can hardly believe 2009 has come and gone; what a rollercoaster of a year it's been! After much thought, I decided to part ways with the job as a Graphic Designer and take my personal business to the next level and become a full time photographer. At first, it was a bit scary - not knowing if it would take off, wondering if I'd be able to make it month to month without a stead paycheck. But, as it turns out, all that worrying was for nothing... it got to a point this fall, where I could BARELY keep up!

2. I've had my work featured in many blogs, contests, and even a magazine over the course of the year, and each time someone asks if they can use my work to showcase on their blog - I'm overjoyed! Contests are always fantastic - I scream and run around the house jumping and singing everytime I find out that I'm a finalist or that I placed! Right now I have my fingers crossed for PDN's Top Knots Wedding Contest and WPD's Creative Wedding Photography Contest. Some of my favorite publications from the year are : Family Circle Magazine {even though it won't be featured until September 2010}, Rock n Roll Bride - http://www.rocknrollbride.com/2009/06/painted-visual-snack , Design A Glow Magazine - http://blog.nkoesterphotography.com/2009/06/featured-in-design-aglow-magazine.html

3. I upgraded my Nikon D40X for the Delicious Nikon D90 - well worth breaking my piggy bank.
4. 2009 wasn't all about business - it was a time for fun with family and friends. My mom did her thing being the best mom in the world by helping me all year - whether it be with my photography business, going to bridal fairs, helping me around the house, or being there for me when I was sick {I was in the ER twice back in March, I'm pretty sure I had the Swine Flu before they really knew what it was... VERY scary time in my life!}. My friends are always a blast - many birthdays, themed parties, and long nights of dancing and laughing. One of my goals for not only 2010, but for life - is to always keep family and friends where they belong - and that's right at #1 on the list!
5. The best part of my job, is meeting people and discorving the little things that make them awesome. I don't just walk away with a few dollars in my wallet - I walk away with friendship. There is nothing better than to capture their ever changing lives on camera and see them smiling long after the camera is put away. It gives me great pride to have someone tell me how much they love my work and it will NEVER get old. If it wasn't for my fantastic following, I wouldn't be able to do what I love. So to all of you that helped make 2009 such a great year - Thank You!

6. To wrap up this recap, I'll leave you with this - My ten favorite pictures from the year 2009 :
